“Every hunt tells a story — and the right technology helps me tell it clearly, humanely, and with purpose.”
With nearly three decades in the field and close to 700 red deer harvested, Knut Erik Rognes stands as one of Norway’s most seasoned hunters. His journey is not just defined by skill, but by a deep respect for wildlife, the land, and the responsibility that comes with each pull of the trigger.

For Knut, hunting began as a family tradition — a connection passed down from one generation to the next.
“My grandfather inspired me to become a shooter and later a hunter. He was with me on one of my first hunts for red deer, and we had success in harvesting a stag.”
That first moment — standing beside his grandfather, watching the mist rise over the Scandinavian mountains — became the start of a lifelong pursuit of precision, patience, and purpose.
Today, Knut’s approach to hunting has evolved with the times. After years of experience across Scandinavia, the USA, and South Africa, he has embraced thermal imaging as an essential tool — not just for success, but for ensuring that every hunt remains humane and controlled.
When he first tested Nocpix products, he recognized something that set them apart.
“I decided to become a Nocpix ambassador after I got the chance to test the new products. I have great experience with thermals, and the new design and outstanding specifications of the Nocpix series really stand out and appeal to me and my kind of hunting.”

Among the countless hunts he’s experienced, one memory still lingers vividly — a night under the northern stars, a friend by his side, and the quiet tension of the chase.
“Last year, I was hunting for stag in the mountains near where I live, along with a good friend. It was after midnight, and we used thermal scopes. We spotted a group of deer about 500 to 600 meters away and began calling. A stag separated from the herd and slowly came closer. Watching him through the thermal spotter was incredibly exciting — step by step, he closed the distance. At 300 meters, he disappeared behind some terrain. Minutes later, he reappeared just 90 meters away. I had to move my position, and I was almost certain he would run off. But he didn’t. When he turned broadside, I took the shot. He dropped instantly. It was a very intense experience — a perfect combination of patience, technology, and instinct.”
That moment, like many in Knut’s career, reflects the precision that defines his hunting philosophy — and the trust he places in his equipment.
“When hunting and shooting as much as I do, equipment becomes very important. I often shoot at long range and depend on gear that works well for this application — and can handle the recoil of my large-caliber rifles.”
Among the Nocpix lineup, one product stands out for Knut: the ACE 60, a device that matches his demand for accuracy and reliability in any condition.
“My favourite Nocpix product must be the ACE 60. With integrated rangefinder and ballistics, along with unmatched clarity and high resolution, it’s perfect for my kind of hunting — even in harsh weather and at night, at ranges up to 600 meters. I’m looking forward to seeing what the new 75 model will bring.”
As he continues to hunt, test, and teach, Knut sees his ambassador role as more than a title — it’s an opportunity to educate, share knowledge, and uphold ethical standards in modern hunting.
“As an ambassador for Nocpix, I can use and test the latest thermal technology. Thermal equipment is here to stay — it enhances safety, helps ensure accurate shot placement, and allows for a truly humane hunt. My goal is to share my knowledge and show how Nocpix can be used in any hunting situation. Since I can record all my shots, I post them on my social media channels to reach others who share my passion for hunting and shooting.”
With every story and every frame he captures, Knut Erik Rognes reminds us that true mastery in the field is built on experience, ethics, and evolution — and that with the right tools, every hunt can be both effective and meaningful.
